Metlife investments IT is looking for an experienced IT project principal specialized in investment systems and capital markets Front Office and/or Middle Office Operations. The Project Principal’s primary responsibility is to manage complex cross departmental, cross functional, cross asset classes, or enterprise wide projects, to identify and assemble the resources required to support projects, to work with the customer to define the approach and scope of the project. Will also facilitate status and steering committee meetings, resolve issues and report critical items, including action plans, to management. The incumbent will be accountable for ensuring all program reporting requirements are satisfied.
Oversee various highly complex investments projects and coordinates the management of multiple related projects
Provides oversight and works with the project managers in the program to monitor cost, schedule, and technical performance of projects, while working to ensure the ultimate success of the program
Develop relationship with cross functional investments business teams, interfacing with all areas affected by the project including all key stakeholders and vendors
Communicates with senior management regarding project status when needed
Assembles project teams, assigns individual responsibilities and identifies resources needed
Creates and administers project plan, documents program & project scope and deliverables based on documentation and requirements supplied
Resolves project issues through direct action or escalation when necessary
Implements Risk Management program to ensure that all risks are identified and appropriately mitigated
Improves team performance by building team cohesiveness, leading, mentoring, training and motivating in order to facilitate cooperation, ensure efficiency and boost morale.
Leverages industry expertise to develop and implement project guidance, templates, and tools
Operates as an internal consultant directing the work of all levels of management
Functional oversight and matrix management, providing guidance and SME to members of the project team & manages the work of vendor consultants
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, related field
10+ years broad experience in Information Technology with experience in Financial, Securities Trading and/or Accounting systems.
8+ years project and program management experience in investments and/or finance sectors
Subject matter expert in capital markets trading and investments operations
SME in project management concepts such as Scope, Communication, Financial and Risk Management practices
Experience working with Project Portfolio Management tools
Possesses excellent communication, strong leadership and negotiation skills
Comprehensive to expert knowledge with technology concepts and System Development Life Cycle methodologies (i.e.: such as Waterfall Agile, etc.)
Extensive experience with managing offshore teams and/or vendors.
Experience working with office automation tools (MS Office suite of applications, email, Internet, etc.)
Innovation mindset. Constantly looking for and executing on innovative technical solutions to enable investments business
Big 4 consulting experience or similar
